How long will it take to play?
If you are a beginner it will take 2 to 3 months to play. That means you will know at least 6 beginners chords and be able to play a song, and also that you will be able to play a few single note melodies. What is critically important is to practice daily. Without the necessary practice you will not progress.
What will I learn?
The basic skills covered for a beginner are: open position chords, simple songs with easy strumming patterns, and an introduction to reading music.
Why should I read music?
Written music or sheet is the written language of music. It teaches valuable concepts and skills. Since everyone uses the same music it can open doors to playing with others. Rather than seeing it as theory, see it as understanding music – music literacy in a sense.
Will I need an electric or acoustic guitar?
All guitars are welcome – electric, acoustic, classical (nylon) and bass guitar).
How much time do I need to practice?
For a beginner, at least 30 minutes per day, 5 to 6 times a week. Once you have advanced you will need anything from 45 min to 60 min. Remember, set time aside to practice -not play. Practice is goal orientated.
How much do I need to practice something?
Be patient! Secondly, practice it slow enough to get it right. Then if you can play it without a mistake five times in a row you take it little bit faster. Repeat over time until your target tempo is reached. Remember – you never see results overnight. It takes at least 2 to 4 weeks to see significant results (with regular practice).
